Why should I choose an alternative supplier?
The electricity and gas market
is extremely competitive, shopping around could save you a
significant amount on your monthly utility bills.
What
are the supplier traps and how to avoid them?
All energy contracts with suppliers automatically
renew themselves after the initial contract term unless
you terminate your agreement with them. The minimum termination
notice that the supplier requires normally is between 30 and
120-days before the end of your initial contract.
If you do not terminate your contract in a timely manner, your
energy contract will be "rolled
over" into a new annual contract at an uncompetitive
price as the supplier knows you can not move away from them for a
minimum of 12-months. Some supplier’s terms even allow the supplier to extend
this period for up to 24-months.
Unfortunately in many cases customers
miss their renewal date or accept price increases because
they’re to busy trying to run their own business.
Unbelievably it is not the responsibility of the energy
supplier to remind you adequately that your energy contract is
coming to an end and that you need to terminate with them to avoid
an automatic renewal.
Our advice is to prevent your current
energy supplier from renewing your contract by sending a
termination letter to your supplier. This will ensure that you are
not locked in on the renewal prices and free to shop around for a
better deal. If you do not send a termination letter your current
supplier will renew your contract on higher prices and prevent you
from switching to another supplier offering a better deal. It is
always advisable to send this letter by recorded delivery, as suppliers will often claim that they
haven’t received your termination letter.
What are 'deemed contracts' or 'out of
contract'?
An energy supplier supplies a property
and not an individual. Therefore, when you move into a property
you are, as the new business owner, not under contract with the
existing supplier to the property. This situation is known as
'deemed contract' or 'out of contract'. You remain in this
situation until you agree a contract with a new supplier.
Remember, a deemed contract is more
expensive as the supplier will charge a higher tariff rate.
Therefore, it is in your interest to agree a new supplier contract
as soon as possible.
Why
should I use a utility broker?
Utility brokers spend all their time in
negotiation with suppliers and can access deals that are not
available on the high street. By using a specialist for your needs
you know you are getting the best deal available.
Are
there any hidden surcharges or costs in using FN Energy
Management?

best available rates from all suppliers in your area. You are then

nothing, and will save you money on your energy bills. We offer

How are
FN Energy Management different?
We are an independent brokerage with
extensive industry experience. We only act in the interests of our
customers because we know how hard it is to find a company you can
rely on. We are here to help you unpick the complicated rules and
regulations behind your electricity and / or gas supply contracts
and show you how to combat the tricks that are used in order to
save you money.
How
does the process for transferring suppliers work?
Once you have chosen a supplier, you
provide us with the details to complete your switch application.
We'll forward these details securely to your new supplier who will
arrange the switch. We'll also send you confirmation details of
the switch and a contact point for your new supplier.
You will be given a supply transfer date
by your new supplier. On this day you should take a meter reading
and submit it to your new supplier. They will contact your old
provider so they can arrange a final bill and close your account
Will there be any interruption to my
supply?
No, there will be no interruption
whatsoever. There is no need to change any meters, wires or pipes
– your new supplier will use the same ones as your old one. The
only changes that you will notice will be a lower bill and / or
improved customer service from your new supplier.
Do
I need to contact my old provider to switch to a new supplier?
No, your new supplier will organise
the entire switching process. You should, however, ensure that
your new supplier receives a final meter reading from you so that
they can organise a bill and close your existing account.
Is
changing business electricity and / or gas suppliers a problem?
No, not when you use FN
Energy Management to aid you in switching suppliers. You could be
one of the 50,000 businesses who switch supplier every week to
make the most of the savings available. When you switch supplier
you will continue to use exactly the same wires and cables as you
currently use. We will arrange the transfer of your business
utilities and the only change you will notice is the name of the
supplier at the top of the bill.
How
do I get a quote?
To receive a quote please click on the 'Get a
Quote' links.
Why
do you need to see a copy of my bill?
Your bill shows us specific information
required in order for us to carry out the analysis and tender the
market
Why
do you need a Letter of Authority?
Due to Data Protection laws a Letter of Authority is required in
order for suppliers to pass over historical information regarding
your usage and for FN Energy Management to be full compliant.
FN Energy Management cannot authorise new contracts or
agreements without your prior express permission. Any contracts
negotiated will need to be completed by an authorised person in
your company.
What are the contract types for business utility
consumers?
Business utility contracts are usually for a
fixed amount of time. This can be between 1-5 years for businesses
like yours. If you wish to leave this type of contract, you must
do so within the contract time limit close to the renewal end date
of the contract. If you wish to leave before then, a termination
fee will nearly always be applied.
